The Proud Sons & League of Wolves

The Proud Sons & League of Wolves

Friday, October 05 2018

Station On Jasper presents a night to remember with The Proud Sons co-headlining with League of Wolves.

The League of Wolves are a powerhouse 5-piece from Saskatoon, SK, are back with a thunderous new EP. Supercharged with production by Gavin Brown (Three Days Grace, Billy Talent, Metric, The Tragically Hip) and mixed by Jacquire King (Kings Of Leon, Tom Waits, Modest Mouse), the band's newest release promises to lead the rock n' roll resurgence. Originally comprised of four small-town Saskatchewan childhood friends, League of Wolves (Dillon Currie, David Wickstrom, Aspen Beveridge and Greig Beveridge) have joined forces with four-time JUNO award winner Leot Hanson, former lead guitarist of The Sheepdogs. Hanson’s wealth of experience and writing style has brought a fresh new sound to the band with listeners comparing them to the likes of Kings of Leon and Queens of the Stone Age. Most recently the band has taken to the stage opening for acts such as One Bad Son, The Trews, Yukon Blonde, and The Glorious Sons.

The Proud Sons are a five-piece Winnepeg band who went on a working trip to Memphis where their destination was Sun Studio, the legendary recording studio at 706 Union Avenue thta helped make the likes of Carl Perkins, Howlin' Wolf and B.B. King Famous. The footprint of that trip can be heard all throughout The Proud Sons' four-song debut EP. The band, made up McConnell, Mymryk, Jason Stanley (keys) and brothers Kyle Meyer (guitar) and Jesse Meyer (bass), salute decades of musical history in their songs. Their signature harmonies wouldn't be out of place grooving through Laurel Canyon in the '60s, their tight '70s boogie rock could satisfy any request to "Play 'Freebird'!" and the I-did-my-baby-wrong/my-baby-done-me-wrong narratives of their songs hearken back to the themes that have been the foundation for so much R&B and country & western music.

Doors for the show open at 7:00pm, but come in early for some great food and drinks.
